Upper East Side Townhouse
New York, NY
The overriding concern for the owners of this late
19th-century townhouse was maximizing natural light.
Another challenge was to open up the space, as the
building was a slight 14 feet wide. Having lived in a
grand house in Kansas, the owners were nervous about
adjusting to the "New York lifestyle," which to them
meant tight living quarters. Demolition was minimal as
a fire had gutted the place. Ultimately, the clients wanted
a modern residence with lots of natural light and space
for entertaining. | |
